IT & software assistance

Harcourt Assessment publishes an expanding range of software and IT related products or computer based scoring assistants and report writers. Should you require any software assistance, please contact Client Service while at your computer and state the following:

  • The name of the product and its edition or version number (found in HELP / ABOUT)
  • A description of the hardware and software you are using, including any network software
  • A description of the problem and what you were doing when it occurred
  • Exact wording of any error message you may have received

Please note, however, that at times software support cannot be offered by Harcourt Assessment for distributed products. In such cases you will be provided contact details for the publisher of the software, so that you may contact the publisher directly for quick and informed support.

  • The quantity required (number of packages)

Payment

If you are a new customer or have not previously completed a credit application form, up-front payment is required for all orders. Please forward a cheque or credit card details with each order. Full credit card facilities are available for Bankcard, Mastercard, Visa and Diners Club. Please ensure freight charges are included. Dishonoured cheques will incur an administration fee.

If you wish to set up a 30-day trading account, you will need to complete a credit application form which will be subject to approval. Payment is required within 30 days of the date of invoice. Please contact Harcourt Assessment’s Client Service division on (+61) 02 9517 8958 for a copy of the credit application form.

30-day approval

Selected materials are available for 30-day account holders on a 30-day approval basis to assist you in evaluating test components for your needs. Please ensure that orders are clearly marked as 30-day approval requests. Credit card details are required as a form of security.

In general, examination kits or test manuals may be supplied on approval, but complete test kits, packages of test record/response forms, software and training CDs and videos are not supplied on approval.

Normal freight and handling charges are payable on all approval orders and return freight is the responsibility of the customer. Payment for, or the return of, materials is required 30 days after the invoice date.

All 30-day approval materials must be returned to Harcourt Assessment by courier in mint, resalable condition or returns will not be accepted. In such cases, materials will be returned to the customer and payment will be required on the original invoice.

Discounts

Harcourt Assessment offers discounts at special times or on special products. Discounts will be offered at a selected range of national conferences or as part of a special marketing campaign. In addition, discounts may be offered to clients who place a single, large order that meets certain criteria set by Harcourt Assessment.

Discount materials are provided to senior researchers on a limited case by case basis. Please contact the General Manager for further information.

Early bird discounts

Special “Early Bird” discounts are denoted by the ‘bird’ symbol and apply to products that are not expected to be published until later in the year. If you order any of these materials before the stated date, you will receive a 10% discount off the retail price.

If you have an account with Harcourt Assessment, or if you are paying by credit card, you will not be billed until the materials are delivered to you. Please note that often the discounted products are not expected to be available in Australia until after the discount offer expires. If, due to a change in circumstances, an order is cancelled after the goods have been delivered or the materials are returned, the freight charges to and from Harcourt Assessment will be the responsibility of the customer.

Please contact our Client Service division on (+61) 02 9517 8958 for further information or to place an order.

Supply of test products

  • Minimum quantity

Many test products, especially record forms and answer sheets, are packaged in lots of 25 etc. In these cases, a single pack is the minimum quantity that can be purchased. Packs cannot be broken for smaller quantities.

  • Handling charge

All orders are dispatched by courier to ensure they are delivered to qualified users. Within Australia, a 5% handling charge, to a maximum of A$55 (including GST for freight) is additional for the delivery of all our products. There is a 7.5% handling charge on all New Zealand orders, to a maximum of NZ$60.00 (including GST for freight).

If you require an overnight/urgent delivery an additional $10.00 fee applies.

  • Delivery time

Please allow 7 working days for delivery to eastern and central Australian states, up to 10 working days for Western Australia and 10–14 working days for delivery to New Zealand. Please telephone Harcourt Assessment if you require an urgent delivery.

  • Prices

Each product on this website shows Australian and New Zealand prices.

Australian prices are in Australian dollars (A$) and include Australian GST. New Zealand prices are in New Zealand dollars (NZ$) but are exclusive of NZ GST.

All prices are subject to change without notice.

  • Goods and Services Tax (GST)

Australian clients: GST is payable on all goods and services (including freight charges) within Australia. Australian prices are in Australian dollars (A$) and are inclusive of 10% GST. If you require Australian prices quoted exclusive of GST, divide the printed price by 11 to obtain the GST component of the product price.

New Zealand clients: New Zealand customers must add NZ GST onto the product price when submitting payment.

User registration

To allow for quick supply of restricted products, Harcourt Assessment operates a registration system. If you are anticipating the purchase of materials from us, please register now using the Individual Registration Form.

Prospective purchasers can complete the registration form and return it irrespective of whether materials are purchased. Details will be entered onto our computer database of registered test users, and test update information and catalogues will be forwarded automatically. We will not supply restricted tests to customers unless we have evidence of appropriate qualifications.

If you are in any doubt about registration, please contact us on (02) 9517 8958 (direct) or 1800 882 385 (toll free within Australia). Alternatively, please use our Freecall 0800 942 722 number if calling from New Zealand. Please note that you may be on the mailing list for a catalogue but may not be a registered test user. Also note we require a street number and name for delivery of product.

Test security

Each person or institution purchasing a test must agree to comply with these basic principles of minimum test security:

  • Test takers must never be provided with answers to the test items.
  • Test materials are not to be reproduced in any way, either electronically, digitally or mechanically.
  • Access to test materials must be limited to qualified persons with a responsible, professional interest who agree to safeguard their use and observe legislated Copyright requirements.
  • Test materials and scores may be released only to persons qualified to interpret and use them.
  • Test materials and results must be stored securely.
  • Requests to reproduce any materials either electronically or mechanically, including photocopying, recording or copying into any information storage or retrieval system, must be in writing and directed to:

Freedom of information – release of psychological test materials

In 1996, in Western Australia, it was found that the contents of a psychological test were exempt under clause 11(1)(a) and 11(1)(b) of schedule 1 of the Freedom of Information Act 1992 (WA).

The Information Commissioner found that disclosure of such documents could reasonably be expected to impair the effectiveness of psychological testing.  The New Zealand Privacy Commissioner has passed similar advice in 2004.

Returns

Returns are at the discretion of Harcourt Assessment and are subject to the conditions below:

The company reserves the right to refuse returns that do not arrive in mint resalable condition (eg damaged in return transit, containing soiled, scuffed or torn pages, corners bent, etc). Harcourt Assessment at its absolute discretion will decide whether a returned product is saleable.

Freight charges covering returns either to Harcourt Assessment or from Harcourt Assessment (as the result of a return being refused) will be the responsibility of the customer. In order to avoid lost shipment claims, proof of despatch will be required from the customer. For those returning products please note:

  • When clients receive materials which have been damaged in transit, claims must be made within 7 days of delivery.
  • Prior authorisation must be sought before any returns are made.
  • Authorisations are valid for only 45 days from date of issue. Returns not received within this time may be refused.
  • Invoice copies must be supplied with each return.
  • When the return is due to Harcourt Assessment’s error we will pay the freight charges only on the carrier nominated by Harcourt Assessment.
  • Misbound titles may be returned without time limit subject to prior authorisation.
  • Any products that are shrinkwrapped must be returned in their original unbroken wrapping, unless products are returned because they are faulty.
  • All software and video sales are final unless material is faulty. Software that is lost or damaged following purchase will not be replaced. This includes software that is lost as the result of work performed on computers after the program has been installed.
  • Once the local distribution date of a new edition is determined, clients ordering old editions will be notified of the proposed distribution date of a new edition and given the opportunity to hold the purchase until the new edition is published. All sales of the old edition are firm and cannot be returned.
